Winning the toss and electing to bat first, South Africa couldn’t take good advantage of a solid start provided by the top three. They collapsed from 136 for one to 248 all-out. The young left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman who announced his arrival to One-Day internationals (ODI) with two five-wicket hauls, got his Test debut. Jubair Hossain too was among wickets as he bagged three scalps. Bangladesh replied well with the bat too with Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal scoring half-centuries each. They finished Day Two on 216 for five. Despite a rise in their performance, Bangladesh have yet to start winning consistently in the Tests.
