Bangladesh Women scripted history by defeating defending champions India to win the Twenty20 Women’s Asia Cup 2018 for the first time. The moment will surely go down in Bangladeshi cricketing folklore as one of the most momentous days in Bangladesh cricket. They not only beat India once but they did a double. The finals was a thrilling encounter, where we saw Bangladesh eventually get over the line of the very last ball, winning it by 3 wickets. But what caught our attention was the way the Bangladeshi Men’s team cheered for the women all the way. It was an epic moment for Bangladesh cricket as a whole, hence the men cricketers led by Tamim Iqbal in the fore front cheered them on.

Beating Asian cricket giants India is no mean feat. Mind you, India Women were runners-up in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Here is the video where you can see the ecstatic Bangladeshi man cricketers shout their lungs out. Some even go on to advice, like asking the batswoman on strike to take a single. It was all happening in the men’s locker room (we suppose that was the location.

Tamim Iqbal uploaded the rare footage on his Instagram account:

Here it is…

Well done girls

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Men’s team recently got whitewashed by Afghanistan in a 3-match T20I series played in Dehradun, Afghanistan’s adopted home.

But let us forget about that and look at the camaraderie between the men cricketers and their women counterpart. This should be highly motivating for the women cricketers from Bangladesh who we expect will now get the recognition which was due.
