We are through with Matchweek six of the Barclays Premier League 2014-15 and Chelsea lead the pack with 16 points. The Blues have won five matches and the only game they dropped points was against Manchester City at the Etihad after being held to a 1-1 draw. As September’s matches concluded, Southampton rose into the top four of the EPL table by registering four victories in a row. Ronald Koeman’s side now face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane before matches against Sunderland and Stoke City.
The first weekend will see Chelsea take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, where the Gunners were humiliated 0-6 last season. Jose Mourinho will take his side Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace before the crunch clash against Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United on October 26. The Red Devils face Everton at Old Trafford and Bryan Oviedo in the same fixture had scored the winner for Roberto Martinez’s side last campaign. The 20-time English champions will visit the Hawthorns in an attempt to beat West Bromwich Albion before concluding the month’s fixture at home against Chelsea.
Liverpool have relatively easier fixtures this month as Queens Park Rangers’ fixture is sandwiched between West Bromwich Albion and Hull City at Anfield. The Merseyside Reds are currently 14th in the league table and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping his side will surge higher up the table before the turn of the month. Reigning champions Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on 18 October and before and after trips to Villa Park and Upton Park to take on Aston Villa and West Ham United.
