Mumbai:The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday announced a 15-man Under-19 squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016. The selection named right-handed batsman Ishan Kishan as the captain of the team while wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who made his first-class (Ranji Trophy) debut this season for Delhi,was named his deputy.

The squad boasts of Sarfaraz Khan, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Armaan Jaffer- nephew of former Indian Test opener- Wasim Jaffer and the likes of Ricky Bhui.

Former Indian Test cricketer Rahul Dravid will continue to mentor the young side as head coach. The U-19 team recently clinched the Tri-Series in Sri Lanka by winning the final against the home side. England was the third team participating in the tournament.

Washington Sundar emerged as the highest run-getter in the Tri-Series with 208 runs from four matches, which included three half-centuries while Khaleel Ahmed and Mayank Dagar scalped seven wickets each to top bowling charts.

The 2016 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be held from January 22 to February 14, 2016 in Bangladesh.
