Hello and welcome to the Group of Death, Group E, Euro 2016 match between Belgium and Italy. This is an important contest between two heavyweight teams in the tournament and if the Republic of Ireland and Sweden game was anything to go by, this group is going down to the wire and every point is going to count. There is so much class in both teams here. Ranked the world’s best team, it is Belgium where eyes will be on and that is because of the strength in depth of the side. There is no Vincent Kompany in this tournament and that is a big blow for Belgium. Now, defense is their only weak link but a lot of it lies on whether Italy can expose the side’s frailties at the back. In the middle, much of the creative duties will be handed over to Daniele de Rossi and the latest sensation, Alessandro Florenzi, who has searing pace. Andrea Pirlo will be sorely missed. BEL 0-2 ITA – Full Time What a performance from Italy. Belgium had chances too but Italy had more goalmouth action and held their shape ever so well. Conte set out a well-drilled team, led brilliantly by Buffon. In the last minute of the game, Italy ran clear, Candreva crossed the ball to the far post and Pelle thumped in a cracking volley to bring down the curtains on the game. One had to see the celebrations to believe how much the win meant to the much-vaunted Italians, who were slagged off by the pundits before the match started.

57′ Pelle again with the header and this time the ball is parried away by Courtois around the post. Excellent save by the ‘keeper. Italy make a change: De Sciglio comes on, Darmian is off
53′ What a miss from Lukaku but credit to Buffon for cutting out the angle for the striker. De Bruyne sucked out the entire Italian defense and the Everton striker was through on goal. His shot went a couple of inches over the bar.
Half Time
45 +1′ Candreva has been immense and yet again, does superbly to delivery a dangerous ball in from the right, Pelle lost his footing at a decisive moment. That will be the last bit of action from the half.
44′ Italy are troubled for the first time and it is the man mountain, Fellaini who creates that opening. It was a very difficult effort for Lukaku, who tries to improvise. Buffon collects it. Safe.
This may be the weakest @azzurri team in ages, but it is very much an Italian performance to the word. Tactical masterclass. #BELITA
