Boxing legend Mike Tyson, on his Facebook wall wrote that he was intrigued by the recently released Bollywood film, Saala Khadoos, and expressed his desire to watch the film. R Madhavan and professional boxer, Ritika Singh star in this film and it has opened to glowing reviews during it’s opening week. The film was simultaneously made in Tamil as ‘Írudhi Sutru’. Tyson shared the review of The Hindu, which had given the film a thumbs up. The film, which has been in the making for more than two years, centres around the relationship between a fallen coach and a boxer. While there have been several sports films being made in the past, very few have managed to translate the emotion and drama that takes place on a pitch or in boxing’s case, in an arena on silver screen. Lagaan and Chak de India, starring the country’s biggest stars became benchmarks for it’s ability to blend sport with patriotism, and is still much talked about several years after the movie’s release. Tyson, who hung up his gloves more than 15 years ago is quite active on social media and constantly interacts with his fans on Facebook and Twitter.

After getting to know about Tyson’s interest in viewing the film, Madhavan immediately contacted the Boxing pro and promised to arrange for a special screening. Very rarely has Indian movies transcended borders although Bollywood has bridged the gap to a large degree over the years. It is indeed a proud moment for the cast and crew of the film.
