Capital One Cup 2014-15 Quarterfinal Draw: Tottenham Hotspur given Newcastle United test while Liverpool, Chelsea get trips to Bournemouth and Derby County

The fourth round of the Capital One Cup 2014-15 ended on Wednesday night and gave left us with eight teams booking their place in the quarterfinals. Holders Manchester City were knocked out by fellow Barclays Premier League club Newcastle United but there were no upsets for Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as they were made to earn their place in the next round by Swansea City, Shrewsbury Town and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively.

Football League Championship sides Bournemouth and Derby County too sealed their progress with wins over West Bromwich Albion and Fulham respectively. Sheffield United ensured there is representation from Football League One with a 2-1 win over MK Dons. Chelsea, Liverpool and Southampton have all been handed away trips in the quarterfinal and have managed to evade fellow top-flight outfits while Tottenham Hotspur will face Newcastle United at the White Hart Lane.

Derby County will face Chelsea at Pride Park while eight time champions Liverpool will travel to the Goldsands Stadium to take on Bournemouth. Nigel Clough’s Sheffield welcome high flying Southampton, who overcame Stoke City with a hard fought 3-2 victory.

The full draw is as follows:

1. Derby County vs Chelsea
2. Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United
3. Bournemouth v Liverpool
4. Sheffield  Utd v Southampton

The matches will be played on 16 and 17 December 2014.
