Defending champions Telugu Warriors led by Akhil Akkineni successfully entered Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) 2016 semi-finals. Despite losing the last group stage match to Karnataka Bulldozers, CCL 2015 champions had a smooth run into the CCL 6 semis. Though the last match defeat meant that Hyderabad based franchise Telugu Warriors finished second in the points table in Group B. Telugu Warriors will face Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Group A points table leader in the second semi-final of Celebrity Cricket League on February 13. Telugu Warriors after notching their maiden CCL trophy in the previous edition have been a confident young side in the ongoing sixth season of Celebrity Cricket League. Their road to semi-finals was marked by collective team effort with every player shining for the team. 1. Telugu Warriors beat Kerala Strikers by 5 wickets in their 1st Group B match.
2. Telugu Warriors beat Chennai Rhinos by 8 wickets in their 2nd Group B match.
3. Telugu Warriors lost to Karnataka Bulldozers by 5 runs in their 3rd Group B match.

Telugu Warriors Team Performance

Telugu Warriors placed in Group B with Karnataka Bulldozers, Kerala Strikers and Chennai Rhinos. As per the rule of tournament, each team play three matches in their group following the round robin format. Akhil Akkineni led side took on Kerala Strikers in first group match played on January 23. They defeated CCL 4 finalist by 5 wickets with Suresh Babu hitting a half-century to chase down target 149.

In their second match against Chennai Rhinos, Warriors again chased down a target of 165 easily to register an eight wicket victory. The third and last group match against Karnataka Bulldozers, Akhil’s army missed by a whisker to record their third successive win by chase. Their all-rounder Ashwyn played a crackling innings of 74 off 30 deliveries to take Telugu Warriors near the mammoth total of 209. They lost the match by 5 runs but that did not stop their fans to give them endless support.
