Chelsea comfortably sits on top of English Premier League 2016/17 points table with 15 wins out of 18 games. The Antonio Conte’s men have a distinct lead of six points over Liverpool. The Reds are at the second place with 12 wins from 18 matches. Manchester City and Arsenal occupy the third and fourth place with 39 and 37 points respectively.
The Blues have enjoyed a stunning form and have been unbeaten in their last 12 league matches. However, despite Chelsea’s unbeaten run, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes his old side are still in contention.

”With the run Chelsea are on, that doesn’t happen often, and there’s a reason for that. That run will come to an end. If I’m a Liverpool player, the manager, or at Man City or Arsenal, I’m thinking we must keep the points gap as it is. The worry is if the gap gets bigger. Keep it as it is for as long as possible, and Chelsea will drop points, whether through a bad run of form or injuries,” Carragher added. ”Liverpool play them at the end of January, I’d be thinking if they can keep them at six points until then, get them to Anfield. OK, there will be pressure on Liverpool to win that game, but the longer the season goes on there will be more pressure on Chelsea too. It’s up to those teams around them to take points off them.”
Chelsea will be up against Stoke City next, who have won just five matches so far this season. On the hand, Liverpool after defeating Stoke City 4-1 will face-off against third-placed Machester City.
