In India, Cricket is a religion and a major part of the life of the fans. The followers and fanatics carry a part of their favourite team within themselves- in the form of posters, merchandise, and some event get tattoos inked and then there are some who display their dedication with a touch of creativity.
K Vinod, a ‘Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) fan (Chennai-based Indian Premier League team) has taken his dedication to a whole another level- his wedding invitation was inspired by the match ticket of CSK’s home games in the Indian Premier League.
“Being a Super Fan of CSK and skipper MS Dhoni, I wanted to come up with something as wedding invite,” said 29-year-old Vinod, who got married in Chennai on Wednesday.
“I spoke to a friend who is a graphic designer by profession as well as a big CSk fan, and we zeroed in on this,” added Vinod, who works in the IT sector.
Vinod is popular among CSK fans as the creator of several videos that have gone viral on the internet.
“CKS officials gave me a big surprise in 2015, at the conclusion of our last home game, when my name was announced and I was presented with an autographed bat by Dhoni,” Vinod reminisced.
The Lions have always acknowledged the love and affection of their multi-million fan base in turning the franchise into one of the most admired teams in the IPL.
“As I said, it’s (returning to CSK) because of everything you know, what we have been through(achievement), how we conducted ourselves and how our management has been, how the players have been, how the fans have been”, Dhoni said ahead of the 2018 VIVO IPL season.
CSK went on to clinch a third title in their seventh appearance in the final to level with Mumbai Indians for most crowns while extending their record of qualifying to the playoffs to all nine seasons that they have participated in.
