Chennai Super Kings Pays Heartfelt Tribute To DMK Leader M Karunanidhi On His Demise
Karunanidhi, who breathed his last at 6:10 pm on Tuesday in Chennai, was a huge fan of the current IPL winner and never missed a single game of the MS Dhoni-led side.
IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have paid a heartfelt tribute to Kalaignar Karunanidhi, who passed away on Tuesday evening, saying the DMK leader’s “contribution to the language and the state (Tamil Nadu) is immeasurable.”
“A sun has set in Tamil Nadu today! His contribution to the language and the state is immeasurable. #RIPKalaignar,” wrote CSK’s official Twitter handle.

Karunanidhi, who breathed his last at 6:10 pm on Tuesday in Chennai, was a huge fan of the current IPL winner and never missed a single game of the MS Dhoni-led side.
In another tweet, the IPL franchise acknowledged the Kalaignar’s love for the team.

Earlier on Wednesday, he was laid to rest at Marina Beach near the Anna memorial with full state honours. Besides, tricolour was draped over him. A gun salute was also given to the late DMK leader. A galaxy of leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and his Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh counterparts Pinarayi Vijayan, K Chandrasekhar Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu were in attendance. His mortal remains were kept at Rajaji Hall for VIPs and public to pay homage.

The Tamil Nadu government has announced a seven-day mourning for Karunanidhi. The Indian national flag would fly half-mast during this period and all government-related functions would be cancelled, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan said. The government declared a day’s holiday on Wednesday for Karunanidhi’s final rites.
