Cheteshwar Pujara’s brother-in-law, Jeet Rasikbhai Pabari was found dead at his home in Rajkot. Police have said it was a case of suicide, according to local news reports. Officers from the Malviyanagar police station reached the house soon after they were informed and have started an official investigation.

The incident happened on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 exactly one year after Jeet’s ex-fiancée filed a rape complaint against him in 2024. Because the dates match, investigators are looking into whether the long-term stress from that case may have affected his mental state.

Jeet was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for a post-mortem, and officials say the results, along with further investigation, will help understand what caused this tragedy.

According to the FIR filed last year, Jeet’s former fiancée accused him of forcing her into a sexual relationship by promising marriage. She claimed the abuse continued after their engagement and that he suddenly ended the relationship later.

Pujara has been one of India’s most dependable and strong Test batsmen in recent years. He made his Test debut in 2010 and quickly became a key player in India’s middle order, especially after Rahul Dravid retired, often showing the same calm and steadiness.

His best performances came abroad, including the 2018–19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where his big centuries and long innings helped India win the series for the first time there. At home, he played many important innings on spinning tracks and became known for handling pressure well.

He retired earlier this year, ending his career for India in all formats.

Pujara married Puja Pabari in February 2013 in a traditional ceremony in Rajkot. The couple is known for their close family life and often shares moments together on social media.

Recently, Pabari released a book called The Diary of a Cricketer’s Wife: A Very Unusual Memoir, which talks about her life with Pujara.
