Copa America 2019: Full Schedule, Groups, Squads, Time in IST

The biggest football event of South America is returning after three years with the hosts Brazil set to take Bolivia in the tournament opener. It was earlier held as a quadrennial event before the Centenary year’s edition took place in 2016, one year after the previous edition. The 2019 edition will be the last Copa America to be held in an odd year before syncing up with UEFA’s European Championship. Thus, the next year will again see the biggest football names of South America clashing against each other.

Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay will start as favourites, but given the performance of Chile in the last two editions, they can’t be left far behind. The defending champions will head to Brazil as the fourth favourite.

Asian countries Qatar and Japan have been invited to play in the CONMEBOL nations cup. Interestingly, the same two teams had faced each other in the Asian Championship final last year. Qatar is also hosting the next FIFA World Cup in 2022.

It will be the first time, since 1989, that Brazil will be hosting the Copa America. Venues across five cities, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Salvador and Sao Paulo, will witness the 46th edition of the tournament.

Twelve teams have been divided into three groups.

Here’s everything you need to know about the biggest football show in South America.
