In a praiseworthy deed, Olympic silver-medalist PV Sindhu on Thursday took to Twitter to let fans know that she has donated Rs 5 lakh to the Telangana and the Andhra Pradesh government to fight the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the world to a standstill. “I hereby donate an amount of Rs 5,00,000/-  each (Rs five lakhs ) towards the Chief Ministers Relief Fund for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to fight against COVID-19,” she tweeted on Thursday. “Stay clean and safe. Take every possible step to ensure not only your safety but also of your fellow citizens by not coming out of your home. Do remember the gravity of the situation and spend the next few weeks accordingly, strictly following all the guidelines,” the ace shuttler told Sportstar.

Earlier, others from the sports fraternity, like Irfan Pathan, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo among others also came forward to do their best for the needy in the time of a crisis.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and the 21-day lockdown that has been put to effect in India, it looks highly unlikely that the cash-rich Indian Premier League tournament will take place.

The virus has affected the world, not just the sporting calendar and the Olympics, which has now been postponed until 2021.
