Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan-owned Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) will aim to defend their title when the 2018 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) kicks off from August 8.

Trinbago Knight Riders, which was formerly known as the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, had defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets in a pulsating final last year to lift the trophy for the second time. TKR were is trouble but a stunning inning from Kevon Cooper turned it around. TKR needed 33 runs from last three overs but they won with six balls to spare as Cooper delivered the knockout punch. Ben Hilfenhaus had given 22 runs in the 19th over.

Now, ahead of the commencement of the 2018 season of the T20 league, the franchise has released a teaser which features owner SRK himself. TKR’s captain and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has lent his voice for the song.

The video was shared by TKR on its official Twitter handle. “#TheBiggestPartyInSport is back! And so are the Defending Champions. Keep an eye out for the entire #TKR anthem,” tweeted TKR.

TKR will begin their title defense against St. Lucia Stars at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on August 8.

Meanwhile, former Australia skipper Steve Smith, who is currently serving a 12-month ban given by Cricket Australia for his involvement in Newlands ball-tampering row, will play for Barbados Tridents in the upcoming CPL season. READ MORE
