Former ODI world champion Sri Lanka will begin a three-match ODI series against New Zealand with the first tie set to take place at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday (November 13). The two-match T20I series between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw with the Black Caps eking out a five-run win the low-scoring clash at the same venue in the second match.

New Zealand will be led by left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who was instrumental in setting up his side’s win over India in the second Test match in Pune last month with a 13-wicket match haul. It will be another spin battled in the ODI series with Santner, Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips available for the visitors and Dunith Wellage, Kamindu Mendis and skipper Charith Asalanka for the home side.

Sri Lanka will miss the services of leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga due to injury and he has been replaced by spinner Dushan Hemantha. The hosts have failed to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after finishing in 9th place in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India but New Zealand have qualified for the tournament and will look to build for the same in the upcoming matches.
