Massimiliano Allegri found their way back in the match after an inspiring performance by new signing Cristiano Ronaldo, who first scored from the penalty spot and then added a second with a stunning strike as Juventus won their ninth match of the on-going Serie A season.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia after the match Ronaldo said, “It was a very complicated game. We knew it would be difficult, especially after a Champions League tie and we were a bit tired.”

“We stayed in the game, increased our possession, created more chances after the break and in the end deserved the victory.

“I don’t remember the goal very well, I’ll have to watch it again! It all happened very quickly, but I felt confident and I went for the goal,” he added.

Empoli’s goalkeeper was on top form throughout the match, making crucial saves to keep the efforts of Alex Sandro and Miralem Pjanic at bay, however, there was nothing much he could have done to save that Ronaldo goal.

Juventus defeated Manchester United earlier in midweek as Dybala’s only goal was enough to see the Italian champions through on Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return. The Allegri led team are now among the best performing clubs in Europe in the 2018-19 campaign and with a seven-point lead in the league, the club are also strong favourites to win the Champions League.
