Even in the IPL 2018 auction, CSK made their bid smartly and opted to go for the experience with most players over 30. Surprisingly CSK also bought India’s veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh but the Tamil Nadu based franchise failed to bring back Ravichandran Ashwin, who was sold to Kings XI Punjab for whopping Rs 7.6 crores. CSK, who won 2010 and 2011 edition of IPL, acquired some experienced players like Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, and Dwayne Bravo.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Kedar Jadhav, who is an attacking middle-order batsman and can bowl off-spin, became Chennai’s costliest buy with the price tag of Rs 7.8 crores. Jhadav first came into the limelight with a 29-ball 50 for Delhi Daredevils on his IPL debut. The 32-year old has till now scored 893 runs in IPL with a strike rate of 134.89.
