Denmark Open Highlights: Despite a gritty performance – former world number one Saina Nehwal went down fighting against world number one Tai Tzu Ying in the big final of Denmark Open 2018. The Indian lost 13-21, 21-13, 6-21 to her Chinese Taipei opponent in a match that lasted almost for an hour. With this victory, Tai Tzu Ying has continued her dominance over Saina.  Nehwal’s head-to-head record against Tai Tzu Ying stands at 6-12 now. Saina last defeated Tai Tzu way back in 2013. This year, world number 10 Saina has lost all her four matches against Tai Tzu before this final, the last being the semifinal clash in the Asian Games in Jakarta in August.

Former world number one Saina Nehwal is set to take on Tai Tzu Ying in the final of the Denmark Open on Sunday. It was a cake walk for Saina as she hardly broke sweat to beat her opponent in the semis. Earlier, late on Friday night, Saina Nehwal and Srikanth entered the semi-finals of the Denmark Open but were made to sweat en route by Nozomi Okuhara and Sameer Verma respectively.

Saina came back from a game down to beat familiar foe and world number seven Okuhura of Japan 17-21, 21-16, 21-12 in the quarter-final lasting 58 minutes on Friday night. In the women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy lost to top seeds Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota in the quarter-finals.
