Rio de Janeiro, July 14: Former Uruguay captain Diego Lugano has joined Cerro Porteno from Sweden’s BK Hacken, the Paraguayan club said.(READ: AIFF has to play bigger role to improve football in India )

No details were given of the deal but local media said the 34-year-old signed a one-year contract with the option of another year, reported Xinhua news agency.”Thanks for the welcome. I hope to repay you on the pitch. My commitment is 100 percent,” Lugano said in a statement on Cerro Porteno’s official website.
