Anand’s post read, “Saddened to hear the passing of Respected M. Karunanidhi. One of the greats of Tamil politics. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times in my career. The chess grandmaster did not stop there, he came up with another tweet, which read, “A patron of sport and achievement. I have always admired his speeches and his eloquence. My deepest condolences to his family.#kalaignar(2/2).”

And then he launched another tweet. It read, “As we mourn the loss of a great leader. We should admire the work being done by our Police force in maintaining law and order. They have a few tough days ahead of them . Our respects to them .#ripkarunanidhi.”

The latest from Tamil Nadu is that schools, colleges and shops would be shut to mourn the death of the iconic leader.
