Kalaignar Karunanidhi breathed his last at 6:10 pm on Tuesday, August 7. The DMK leader passed away at the age of 94 in Chennai. He was a man with many facets. He was not only an ace writer but also a person who took interest in films and had drafted screenplays for more than 50 films. A noted Tamil author, Karunanidhi has over 100 works to his credit, including poems and novels.
His novels include ‘Romapuri Pandian’, ‘Thenpandi Singam’, ‘Nenjukku Needhi’ (his autobiography and commentary on contemporary politics), Sanga Thamizh, Kuraloviam, Ponnar Shankar, Thirukkural Urai.

But how many of you knew that he also was a cricket fan? Not only did he play cricket with his grandson but also watched a lot of cricket and had also cancelled meetings in order to watch India play a match.

In the video, you can see how his grandson is holding an amateur plastic bat and the leader is seen sitting on his chair with a plastic ball in his hand. The two women in the video are playing the role of ball fetchers. The game is taking place inside the house and it looks like a nice family affair, where you can see everyone getting involved.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Madras High Court has ruled that former TN CM be buried at the Marina Beach, which comes as a big relief for his innumerable supporters. Also, all schools and colleges are shut for a week to mourn the death of the iconic leader. Even shops are shut and not that closing of it was imposed on the people, but they did it on their own, is a testament to his wide fan following.
