Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who has not been included in the Indian squad for the first three-Tests against England, has reflected upon his injury and has thanked fans who are praying for his speeding recovery.

Saha has failed to recover from a left thumb injury which he suffered while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the VIVO IPL Qualifier 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders in May in Kolkata.

“Yes! Wriddhi is physically unwell and may not be there in the upcoming England Test series… we are going through a bad phase and crisis.. thanks to all fans, well-wishers and people who are there beside us, during this time,” read a statement from Saha’s representatives on Twitter.

“Injury is not anyone’s hand… and to the people who are having astrological conclusions right now regarding his future cricket… would suggest, learn to wish someone’s recovery than predicting future! Have some respect for someone who has got injured playing for the country,” the statement further said.

It is also reported that Saha will be out of action for at least two months with a shoulder injury. An assessment will soon be made if his injured shoulder requires a surgery.

Meanwhile, Saha’s injury has opened the door for Rishabh Pant, who has been included in the Test squad that’ll take on England. While Dinesh Karthik is more or less confirmed as the first-choice ‘keeper, Pant has been included in the 18-man squad as back-up. READ MORE
