England register highest ever One Day International total in the history of limited-overs cricket. England pipped their own record against Pakistan of 444 runs which was achieved in 2016 at Nottingham. Leading 2-0 in the 5-match ODI series, England were asked to bat first after Australia won the toss. Thanks to belligerent tons by Alex Hales (147) and Jonny Bairstow (139), England amassed a humoungous 481 in their stipulated 50 overs.

Andrew Tye conceded 100 runs in 9 overs and was the most expensive bowler for Australia. Richardson with three wickets was the most successful bowler for the visitors but he gave away 92 runs in 10 overs.

Here are the list of records that were broken and milestones that were achieved.

Eoin Morgan’s 50 of 22 balls was also the fastest half century by an Englishman.

This is also the second highest score ever in List A cricket. Ironically India A who are playing Leicestershire was third in the list of highest List A scores, they managed 458 today.

Eoin Morgan has now become the highest run-getter for England in ODIs going past Ian Bell’s 5416 runs and becomes the first player to score 3,000 runs in England in ODIs.

It looks mighty difficult for the visitors to stage a comeback but cricket is a funny game only a fool can predict. Australia will need 482 to win, a total that has never been breached in Men’s ODI cricket while chasing.
