Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first Indian cricketers to laud England on winning the three-match ODI series 2-1. Tendulkar also listed out three names he felt helped the hosts win at Leeds by 8 wickets. He named Adil Rashid, Joe Root, and Adil Rashid.

Tendulkar took to Twitter to post his message, which read, “Congratulations, @englandcricket on winning the match and the series. You played better cricket in the last two games and deserved to win. @AdilRashid03’s 3 crucial wickets were the key. Also, solid stuff from @root66 and @Eoin16. Match winning partnership.

Meanwhile, it was Adil Rashid’s 3-fer that rocked the Indian innings as the visitors could not get to a par score and had to be content with 256 which was never going to be a winning score. It was Joe Root’s 13th ton and Eoin Morgan’s fifty that helped England cruise to a comfortable win. Root and Morgan stitched a record 186*-run partnership, which is the highest stand in an India versus England ODI.

Joe Root bagged the Man of the Series for his consecutive hundreds. With 13 centuries to his name, Joe Root also becomes the highest century maker for England, he went past Marcus Trescothick to this feat.

By winning the series, England ended India’s run of nine consecutive bilateral ODI series win. This was also India’s first bilateral ODI series defeat under the captaincy of Virat Kohli and England’s eighth consecutive bilateral ODI series win.
