New Delhi: Riding on Ashley Young’s brace, Manchester United beat Watford 4-2 at Vicarage Road. The victory helped the Red Devils to close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to five points.

Young scored his first United goals since May 2016, while Anthony Martial added a third in the first half. It seemed like visitors will walk away with easy three points after they took a good lead in the first half itself. However, the game saw some late drama when Watford’s Troy Deeney pulled one back from the penalty spot before Abdoulaye Doucoure found the back of the net with six minutes remaining.

From 3-0 up in first half, United were leading by just a goal in the dying minutes of the game and the pressure was on the Red Devils as Watford was pressing them in search of their third and equalising goal. However, Jesse Lingard’s solo strike in the 86th minute of the game assured United of victory and got them three very important points.

In a different game, Leicester City shocked Tottenham Hotspur by beating them 2-1 at the King Power Stadium. Jamie Vardy’s astonishing strike and Riyad Mahrez’s curling shot gave the foxes a 2-0 lead in the first half.

However, star striker Harry Kane pulled one back for Tottenham in the second half, but that was not enough to save the visitors from the defeat. Tottenham failed to convert numerous chances which came their way and it won’t be wrong to say that they lost because of their own mistake.

Also, it should be noted that Spurs have won just one of their last six games away from European competition and they are now fifth on the EPL points table.
