Nottinghamshire fast bowler Luke Fletcher suffered a horrific head injury during the NatWest T20 Blast match against Warwickshire and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

As batsman Sam Hain hit the ball straight to the bowler Fletcher which struck at bowler’s head in follow-through. Fletcher clutched his head in pain and everyone was stunned by the incident. Hain could not believe what just has happened. He was stunned by the outcome and Fletcher’s teammates held their faces with both hands in utter disbelieve.

The 28-year-old was soon on his feet and after initial treatment on the field, he took to a local hospital in an ambulance.

All players were left completely stunned by the incident, and the game stopped for close to 30 minutes.

According to initial reports, it emerged that the injury was of serious nature. The incident has happened in the fourth over in the second innings. Fletcher was seen wrapping up his head in a towel while walking off the field.

The Notts released a statement which read: Luke Fletcher has been taken to the hospital to assess the extent of the head injury. He was able to walk off the field of play and, after receiving treatment from the medical staff, it was recommended he goes to the hospital for a thorough check-up.


Many fans and fellow cricketers were waiting in anxiety to know the status of the paceman, Fletcher’s teammate Jake Ball tweeted a picture of the former signaling a thumbs up from the hospital bed, to end the scare.
