Harry Kane scored a brace against Tunisia and then followed it up with a hattrick against Panama, to now stand as the leading goal-scorer thus far in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2018. But it seems manager Gareth Southgate does not want to risk Kane as expected. Kane was also replaced by Jamie Vardy just after he got the hattrick. Kane pipped Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku to the numero uno spot.

So here is the question will he be risked against a formidable Belgium side now that England have sealed a Round of 16 spot.

According to The Sun, Kane approached Gareth Southgate and pleaded to get a Belgium start, it is accepted or not remains to be seen.

Here is what Kane reckoned about England’s performance.

“I want to play, I want to continue the form I’m in. It’s important we finish top and take the momentum into the knockout stages. It is special to score a hat-trick. One to be proud of. Not many players score a hat-trick in the World Cup, so I’m extremely proud of that,” said Kane to The Sun.

Kane hattrick was the first for England since Gary Lineker’s did it against Poland in 1986.

Now that he stands at 5 goals from two matches and is the leading scorer, he certainly is a frontrunner for the golden boot and hence he wants to start against Belgium.

Among the many records that were tumbled, Kane also became the only Englishman to score 5 goals in the group stage of the World Cup for England. The three lions are in raging form and look promising to advance to the later stages of the tournament.
