Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2018. It is the biggest footballing event of the calendar year and this time Russia is all set to host 32 teams. The opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup takes place at Luzhniki Stadium.

According to reports in the media, approximately 80,000 people are expected to turn up. Stars like Robbie Williams, Will Smith and others famous stars are set to set the ball rolling in style in Russia.

The 21st edition will be played in 12 stadiums, across 11 cities, spread over 1,800 miles. The mega showpiece event kicks off tonight straight after the grand opening ceremony. Hosts Russia lock horns with Saudi Arabia in the tournament opener.

There are eight groups, each containing four teams, with the top two advancing to the last 16. The final takes place at the 81,000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday, 15 July.
