Saudi Arabian football team in Russia for FIFA World Cup 2018 had a close shave with destiny when their team plane caught fire during landing at Rostov-On-Don.
All the players are safe, no one was injured. It was a technical snag that took place in the engine. The Saudi Arabia team was traveling to the venue for their next fixture on Wednesday. Aircraft is believed to be Rossiya Airbus A319.
Here is the video of the incident.
One can see the tail wings catching fire and the fire goes up in flames.
“The Saudi Arabian Football Federation would like to reassure everyone that all the Saudi national team players are safe, after a technical failure in one of the airplane engines that has just landed in Rostov-on-Don airport, and now they’re heading to their residence safely,” said a statement from the federation’s English-language Twitter feed.
All the players have returned to their hotels which signifies they are safe.
