Former England star Ashley Cole was reportedly attacked by a gang of masked robbers at his home. Cole’s mansion in Fetcham, Surrey was ransacked by the masked thieves, who caused a lot of damage to the property and precious jewellery was stolen from the house. As per the report in The Sun, the 39-year-old was tied to a chair by the burglars. However, several reports have confirmed that the former Chelsea footballer was left unharmed. The masked robbers wore camouflage clothes and made their way in to the property through the rear doors. It is also unclear that Cole’s wife Sharon Canu and his two children were at the house at the time of the incident. A spokesman of Surrey Police was quoted by the British media saying, “Our investigation remains ongoing following an aggravated burglary in Fetcham on 21 January. Burglars broke into the property through the rear doors around 9:45 PM.”

It is not known if any arrests have been made related to the burglary.

Cole’s neighbours revealed that the robbers were extremely professional and knew exactly what they were doing at his property. It is suspected that it was a planned burglary and the robbers might have cased the Cole house in advance.

The London-born retired from professional football in August 2019, having last played for Championship club Derby County. He now works as a football pundit and a coach for Chelsea’s U15 football team.
