It is surprising than Anthony Martial is not starting the game. Deschamps probably wants him to come on late in the game and have an influence on proceedings. It will be a big responsibility on the hands of the French backline to not stop attacks from flowing in. Romania might not have people who break at pace but apart from Koscielny, there is not much pace on the backline. Dimitri Payet will move to a central position and look to thread balls to Griezmann and Giroud, effectively making it a 4-2-2-2 while attacking. Romania will be relying on Andone for goals. Defense is the key to the Romanians and it will come as no surprise if they look for a draw.

With plenty of experience in their back-four and midfield, the final third is one area of the pitch where Romania have some youthful exuberance that can trouble the opposition backline. Adil Rami is the slowest French defender and the the area where the forwards should try to make their rubs. One does not know yet if Adrian Popa will be starting the game but Florin Andone is almost a certainty to start; a lot depends on whether the young striker can come good.
