New Delhi: After Xavi Hernandez’s sacking, Barcelona have appointed Hansi Flick as their new manager. Barcelona had a disappointing run in the 2023-24 season. They failed to defend their La Liga title and took the exit route in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg. Reaching the UCL quarters was indeed an achievement for Barcelona considering their recent records at the European competitions. Adding to that, frequent injuries of players like Gavi, Pedri, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ferran Torres have been one of the main reasons for Barcelona’s failure. The absence of a quality defensive midfielder created a defensive malfunction in the side. Let’s take a look at three players who could shine under the new Barcelona boss:

Lamine Yamal

The 16-year-old wonder kid from La Masia has been the biggest positive for the Balugrana in the last season. The right winger has resemblance with the club legend Lionel Messi and his emergence at the club in the absence of senior players has been a blessing in disguise. Yamal has scored six goals and five assists in the 49 games he played in the 2023-24 season. Considering Hansi Flick’s style of play he could be the next big thing under the German.

Pau Cubarsi

Another young talent from La Masia who emerged under Xavi’s managerial period is Pau Cubarsi. The 17-year-old centre-back has delivered some spectacular defensive performances for his team in the season. He has played 19 games in La Liga and thee games in the Champions League. He stole the show against PSG in the first leg of the quarterfinal with his amazing performances against the likes of Kylian Mbappe. Cubarsi also has a great passing ability as his long passes with accuracy impressed everyone.

Robert Lewandowski

The Polish striker had an average season but with Hansi Flick coming in could be a turning point for him. Flick and Lewandowski had worked together earlier at Bayern Munich, where the duo had an invincible time, winning six trophies in a single season. It also became Lewandowski’s one of the best seasons in his career. Culers will be hoping that the duo can recreate the magic again for Barcelona.
