Barcelona suffered a catastrophic 4-0 loss against Liverpool in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in Anfield stadium on Tuesday. The Spanish giants headed into the match with a 3-0 advantage at Camp Nou stadium but failed to maintain their ground with a scrappy performance.
The comeback by Liverpool was one of the most monumental in Champions League history, with which they progressed to the finals of the coveted European club football competition.
The advantage Barcelona attained in the first leg was courtesy to a masterclass performance by Lionel Messi as he scored a brace. However, the Argentinian failed to emulate his performance in what was a poor overall display by the Catalan side.
Following the match, Barcelona fans could not contain their emotions after having suffered a similar faith to what they had suffered a year ago against AS Roma. The Italian club registered a remarkable comeback despite a 4-1 deficit in the first-leg.
Fans were seen hurling abuses and booing the Barcelona team and even the greatest player in the history of their club wasn’t spared from the emotional outburst of the traveling fans.
