Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been one of the strongest voices on the Pulwama attack or capture of IAF pilot Abhinandan felt relieved once he was returned to India today. Gambhir who is active on social media took to Twitter to let the world know of what it feels. His sentiments are very much in line with what all Indian citizens feel. “I must say I was nervous before he returned. I am glad India got its son back!!! #Abhinanadan #AbhinanadanVarthaman,” Gambhir tweeted following the return of Abhinandan.

Lauding Abhinandan’s bravery, effort, and courage – Virender Sehwag took to his official Twitter account earlier to share a heartwarming post. He wrote, “How proud we are to have you ! Bow down to your skills and even more your grit and courage 🙏 # WelcomeBackAbhinandan. We love you and are filled with pride because of you. #WeAreSupposedToTellYouThis”.

Earlier in the day, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad had completed the travel documentation of IAF pilot. Reportedly, Pakistani authorities will bring him from Rawalpindi to Lahore and hand him over to the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) under rules of the Geneva Convention. The IAF pilot Abhinandan’s MiG 21 was shot and he bailed out after bringing down one Pakistani F-16 fighter during a dogfight as three Pakistani jets violated Indian airspace in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera and Poonch on Wednesday. He has been in Pakistan since then.
