Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar: In Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli have to be the original ‘Jai-Veeru’. Both started out playing cricket together before stitching the world record 664-run-partnership to get the attention of the world and as they say, the rest is history. Tendulkar went onto become one of the greatest batsmen of all-time, whereas Kambli who started out his international career well faded out soon. Yet, Kambli has always remained a great admirer and a friend of Tendulkar. Every year he makes it a point to wish his friend.
Here is the video where Sachin talks candidly about the time when Kambli touched his feet during the presentation ceremony of a Mumbai T20 League match where Tendulkar was present as the chief guest.
Kambli took to Twitter to share the moment as he captioned it, “Ye Dosti Hum Nahin todenge on field or off. Gheyun Taak.”
Tendulkar holds several world records in cricket. Apart from being the first cricketer to slam a 200 in ODI cricket, he has registered the most number of centuries in Tests and ODIs. Tendulkar, who was born on April 24, 1973, embellished his name around every possible batting record which a human mind can think of.
18,426 ODI runs, 15, 921 Test runs, 463 ODIs, 200 Test matches, 100 international centuries and at last, a World Cup – these are some mindboggling numbers and stats which define just a part of Tendulkar’s legacy. Is there anything else a player can dream or ask for in his lifetime? The answer we all know.
