September 5 is celebrated as Teachers Day in India. It is that time of the year again when students across the country honour their teachers, remember their school days, the lessons they learnt in class as well as outside. On the occasion, Indian cricketers took to Twitter and posted heartfelt messages to wish #HappyTeachersDay to fellow countrymen.
legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, popularly known as God of Cricket, tweeted: Without teachers, our lives wouldn’t have been the same. So let’s continue to appreciate their contribution in making us who we are today. Happy #TeachersDay!
Like Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh and others also remembered their teachers on the occasion.
“Cricket has taught me everything in life. It’s not just playing cricket at the end of the day. You go back home with experiences you’ll never forget. I learnt how to go about life, how to deal with ups and downs, and came across the best mentors and friends! Happy #TeachersDay!” tweeted Harbhajan.
“Fighting situations, staying fit…I’ve learnt a lot from Sport and it’s been one of my greatest teachers,” said Raina.
Laxman said: “Who taught me passion, preparation & perseverance? I learnt it from Sport. I dedicate this Teachers’ Day to Sport!”
Teachers Day marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – India’s first Vice-President and second President. He was a celebrated academic and recipient of Bharat Ratna.
