Bhubaneshwar, April 20: Recovering from the ISL final defeat agony, Bengaluru FC toyed with 10-man East Bengal 4-1 to prove their superiority in the Indian football and clinch the inaugural season of the Hero Super Cup at the Kalinga Stadium here on Friday.
Samad Mallick failed to keep his nerve, to initiate the downfall of his side after he was send-off near the first-half whistle after failing to maintain his nerves and having a go at Subhashish, on his face.
However, for East Bengal, Kromah (28th minute) gave his side the lead which was soon forgotten by a dominating play from Bengaluru FC – Rahul Bheke (39th), Sunil Chhetri (69th penalty, 90th) and Nicolas Fedor (71st) who scored in either halves.
East Bengal looked the better side until they hit the net, later Bengaluru FC – who once again proved not to be the better side in the first-half, looked to change gears made a flurry off attack on the opposition goal post.
For the runners-up, Mahmoud Amna was prolific in the midfield, till the final whistle but failed to get support from the East Bengal star Katsumi Yusa.
