HS Prannoy Climbs to 17th Place in BWF Men’s Rankings, PV Sindhu at 5th Place

Courtesy his US Open Grand Prix Gold title triumph, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy has jumped six places to be at 17th position in the latest BWF world rankings. Prannoy defeated Parupalli Kashyap in an all-Indian final in the US to win the title.

Prannoy is an exceptional talent in Indian badminton. Earlier, at the Indonesian Super Series Premier title he defeated Olympic medalist Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long of China to showcase his shocking talent.

US Open Grand Prix Gold winning Indian shuttler HS Prannoy has jumped six places to grab 17th position in the BWF world rankings. On the other hand, Parupalli Kashyap, who reached his first final at US Open in more than two years after recovering from multiple injuries, also gained 12 places to be at the 47th spot.

Meanwhile, talented Sameer Verma, who has qualified as the fourth Indian for the World Championship, jumped four sports to be the 28th in the rankings.

Best Indian men’s ranking holder is Kidmabi Srikanth, who had won Australia Open Super Series and Indonesia Open Super Series Premier title and lost the Singapore Open Super Series to compatriot  Sai Praneeth, who is currently placed at number 8.

Ajay Jayaram is ranked 16th, while B Sai Praneeth is 19th spot after losing a place.

Meanwhile, in women’s category, PV Sindhu remained 5th while Saina Nehwal dropped one spot to be world number 16.  They are the only two Indians in the top-25.

In mixed doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy dropped three places to lie at the 20th spot. There was no Indian pair in the top 25 in men’s or women’s doubles.
