Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his upcoming book ‘The Dhoni Touch’ written by Bharat Sundaresan reveals that he never asked his boys to use cuss words on the ground. The former Indian skipper led India to two ICC World triumphs.
An excerpt from the book.
‘Goli maarta hai apne style mein (He shoots in his own style.) He says the problem is if I allow my boys to give maa–behen ki gaali (swear words involving someone’s mother or sister); it’s they and not the one being subjected to it who’ll feel the pinch of what they’ve done for the rest of the day,’ one of Dhoni’s close friends explains. ‘He doesn’t believe in overt displays of aggression. He believes that if you want to hurt them, do it in your style, not in their way. If they believe in swearing, you don’t need to do it,’ he said.

Meanwhile, following his slow batting in England during the ODIs, the chorus of ‘MS Dhoni should retire’ increased. But that surely does not affect the 37-year-old cricketer who has been there, done it all. Arguably the best finisher in limited overs cricket, MS Dhoni has played 321 ODIs, amassing 10046 runs at an average of 51.25 and that comprises of 10 hundred. A CV that anyone would envy.
Apart from international cricket, MS Dhoni has also led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles, the highest by any captain. He recently also became the 12th cricketer to score 10000 runs in ODIs. He has also taken 300+ catches in ODI cricket, only three cricketers have done it excluding MS Dhoni.
