Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced prize money of Rs 10 million each for national cricket team players who were part of Champions Trophy triumph. According to a report in the Dawn, Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the prime minister has announced the reward for the national team for winning the Champions Trophy. She said by showing brilliant performance in the tournament; the national team had lifted the spirits of the nation. She also added that Pakistani team outclassed their opponents in all departments – batting, fielding and bowling. Courtesy win over India in the final, Pakistan have climbed to the sixth position in the latest ICC ODI Team Rankings. The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side came into the tournament as number eighth-ranked team. The jump in rankings means Pakistan now move closer to direct qualification for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also announced Rs1 million to each member of the winning squad. In addition to it, a bonus of Rs29 million will be divided and distributed among all members of the squad, reported the Dawn.
