Indian team head coach Anil Kumble has revealed that he would like former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan to be on the coaching team. During Kumble’s meeting with BCCI office-bearers and members of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) in Hyderabad last week, he proposed Zaheer’s name as team India’s bowling coach.

The 38-year-old left arm pacer was approached last year by the BCCI to be the India’s bowling coach. However, the deal didn’t go through for some reasons.

According to Times of India, a spokesperson confirmed the news stating, “Yes, Kumble wants a bowling coach for the team, and he has recommended Zaheer’s name for the role. We’ll discuss Kumble’s proposals at an appropriate forum.”

On Tuesday, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also voiced his support on Twitter for Zaheer Khan as the bowling coach.

Bhajji tweeted: “@ImZaheer would be the best option for indian fast bowling coach in my opinion..Great mind #Greatfella”

However, it’s still uncertain if Zaheer will join Team India in England for the Champions Trophy in June.

Even Kumble future looks in spot of bother now as on Wednesday there were reports that BCCI are unhappy with him. The BCCI has started inviting applications for the position. Anil Kumble will be a direct entry for the process.
