It was the first ball of the 12th over and Imran Tahir’s googly had Navdeep Saini all at bay as he looked to play a forward defense during the ongoing Indian T20 League opener at Chepauk. The umpire initially called it off as he said it was not out. Tahir straightaway asked Dhoni to go for the DRS. Dhoni did not particularly look interested but he trusted Tahir and replays showed it came off some part of the bat. The ball was caught by Shane Watson at first slip and the umpire had to overturn his decision.

Here is the moment:

It was a great show by the Chennai spinner to bowl out Bangalore for a paltry 70 in the tournament opener. During the 70-run-chase, Raina became the first cricketer to breach the 5000-run-mark in the history of the Indian T20 League.

At the time of filing the copy, Chennai was in cruise-control mode and need merely 13 runs to win the match. This sure was not the way Bangalore wanted to start their campaign. They will have to come back strong in the upcoming games. Bangalore will next host Mumbai in their own backyard on March 28.

“Every professional knows how to maintain a balance. Eventually, you are playing for a franchise who have trusted you to do the job. Till the time you play, you have to give your 120 per cent, not when you do not have to play. I do not believe in playing with 70-75 per cent,” Kohli said at an IPL presser ahead of the tournament opener.
