James Anderson will be out for six weeks to get his shoulder injury addressed. This comes at a time when Indian captain Virat Kohli is also out of action for Surrey County Club, he is recovering from a neck injury.

With both players who were pitted against eachother out of action just a month away from the crucial 1st Test against India, it will be interesting to see if both can make it to that Test.

According to The Telegraph, “We have five Tests against India in a six-week period from August 1, which will be an intense and challenging period for all our bowlers, and therefore it’s vital that we ensure Jimmy goes into that series in the best possible condition,” said Trevor Bayliss, England’s head coach.

“Jimmy has to manage the issue with his right shoulder, and we’ve been advised that the best way for him to prepare for the India series is to take a six-week break from cricket now, initially to rest it and then to work slowly back to cricket. That six-week period covers Lancashire’s two Championship matches over the next three weeks. We will then monitor to see where Jimmy is at and ensuring he is ready for the India series.”

Fans would hope to see the much-awaited James Anderson versus Virat Kohli contest and we dearly hope the two champion cricketers recover in time.

Meanwhile, India will play Afghanistan in their historic debut Test at Bengaluru. Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanizai has already made a statement where has said that the visiting spinners are better than the Indian spinners. For India, Ajinkya Rahane would lead the side in the absence of Indias’s regular captain Virat Kohli.
