India U-19 vs Sri Lanka U-19: Mohit Jangra, Ayush Badoni Star As India Thrash Sri Lanka By Inning And 21 Runs

India U-19 vs Sri Lanka U-19 first Youth Test: Despite wicketkeeper-batsman Nishan Madushka's brilliant ton (103) and a valuable 78 from Nuwanidu Fernando, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 324, 21 short of India's first inning score on the fourth and final day of the match.

The India U-19 team thrashed Sri Lanka U-19 team by an inning and 21 runs in the first Youth Test of the two-match series at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo on Friday. Despite wicketkeeper-batsman Nishan Madushka’s brilliant ton (103) and a valuable 78 from Nuwanidu Fernando, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 324, 21 short of India’s first inning score on the fourth and final day of the match.

Mohit Jangra was pick of the Indian bowlers as he picked five wickets in the second inning. He was well supported by Ayush Badoni who took two priced wickets of the hosts.

Earlier, after bowling out Sri Lanka U-19 for 244, India rode centuries from Badoni (185*) and opener Atharwa Taide (113) to score close to 600 runs and grab a first-innings lead of 345. Badoni had struck 19 boundaries and four sixes during his 205-ball run knock while Taide smashed 13 boundaries.

Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun, who grabbed the limelight after a tidy spell on his India U-19 debut, picked up two wickets (one in each inning) in the entire match. He was, however, out for a duck in his maiden U-19 inning.

The second match between the two sides will be played from July 24 in Hambantota.
