India vs Australia 1st T20I: Men in Blue are ready to host Australia after a grueling tour Down Under, not long ago. Regular captain Virat Kohli makes a comeback to the side and will be India’s No 3 in all probability. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also make a comeback to the XI. With India looking to get their house in order ahead of the 2019 ICC World Cup, which is slated to be held later in the year. India more or less has a settled unit and the selection for the Australia series indicates just that.
What are the changes India can contemplate in order to be in a good position to pick the XI for the first WC game against South Africa?
Two obvious changes: Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in for Dinesh Karthik and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav in For Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed
India is certain with Kuldeep Yadav, hence giving Chahal more game time is of the essence. With Khaleel having the left arm’s advantage as he brings variety to the table. With Unadkat not being picked, it seems the management has finalised Khaleel and hence it is good to see Umesh Yadav, the kind of form he is currently in before making the final call.
The rest of the squad remains more or less as expected, with Kohli and Bumrah slotting right back. India could stick with Vijay Shankar now that they are interested in carrying him to England, it is best he gets more game time. Rishabh Pant can play at No 5 after Vijay Shankar and be the ideal floater. Both the Pandya brothers would feature as they are specialists in the format.
India’s expected playing XI for the 1st T20I
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(C), Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
