India vs Australia 2018, 3rd Test Melbourne: It seems Australian captain – Tim Paine is having a lot of fun in the ongoing four-match Test series against India. Despite failing to put up any considerate show with the bat, the Aussie skipper is definitely leading his side from behind the stumps. After involving in several hilarious on-field altercations with opposition players like – Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma, Paine’s latest victim is India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. The Aussie glovesman was once again seen or heard at his witty best during the day 3 of the Boxing Day Test against India.
Just before the close of play on day 3, Paine asked Pant to come and join the Big Bash League’s popular franchise – Hobart Hurricanes as former India captain MS Dhoni is back in the ODI squad against Australia. Pant is recently dropped from India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series, starting on January 12, 2019. Paine seems to to be throwing a bait for all India batsman, earlier he said Rohit to hit a six and he would support the Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma did not fall prey to it and Rishabh Pant too did not. At stumps on Day 3, India has a lead of 346 runs with five wickets in hand. Pant is at the crease on six and giving him company at the other end is debutant Mayank Agarwal on 28.
Here is the lovable banter between the two wicketkeepers.
India were 54/5 at the close of play on day 3 in Melbourne, and they lead by 346 runs. The away side is still in the driver’s seat, but the Kangaroos will be in better spirits come Day 4. One more thing that could play in hosts’ favour is the fact that there is rain forecast for the remaining two days, which could help and dent hopes. Whatever may happen, it will be really interesting to see how this Boxing Day Test will unfold.
