India vs Australia 2018: Expectations are high as Virat Kohli’s India get ready for the long tour of Australia. They are the no 1 team in the world and the expectations are sky-high as expected. Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones in an exclusive interview with CricketCountry has said that he would be extremely surprised if India does not win the Test series. The 57-year-old also reckons Ravichandran Ashwin will have a great series down under in conditions that do not assist finger spinners. But the Aussie also expects it will be a “ripper of a series”. It is never easy to beat Australia in their own den and the Kohli-led outfit know it very well as they lost 0-2 to the hosts the last time they toured the nation.
“I’m expecting Ashwin to have a ripper of a series. He had a good series last time India were here, and had he played in that first Test in Adelaide, India might have won the series,” Jones told CricketCountry. “India have a good chance, they’ve never won a Test series over here, and if they don’t I would be surprised.
“How Australia play Ashwin and Kuldeep is going to decisive, and that’s why I think we have to have Handscomb and Finch, who are our best players of spin, available so they can counter them,” said the 57-year-old.
“Finch opened the innings, but he will bat at No 5 at home when India come over. We’ll should have Marcus Harris into the side by then, he’s scored the most runs in the last three Sheffield Shield seasons, which is phenomenal. Matt Renshaw will play and I think Usman [Khawaja] will bat at 3,” he added.
