India vs Australia 2019: BCCI Announce ODI, T20I Squads, Twitter Furious Over Dinesh Karthik Omission

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the squad for the upcoming T20I and One Day International (ODI) series against Australia to be held from 24th February at home. The squad selection left the fans divided in opinions, while some have rejoiced with choice, some expressed their dissatisfaction. The latter was in particular because wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was omitted from the squad. This decision comes as a shock to many as some weeks ago, Karthik revealed that the team management looks up to him as a finisher.

This has put some fans into the considering that perhaps it is now the youngster Rishabh Pant, who will be the second choice wicketkeeper in the team.

The 33-year-old displayed a decent performance in the recently concluded India’s tour of Australia and New Zealand registering the scores of 38* (38), 25* (14), 12 (21) and 0(1). Although Pant has not had the same impact but good displays in test cricket leveraged his case for the upcoming series.

The T20Is will be played on February 24 and February 27 in Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru, respectively, followed by the ODI series starting in Hyderabad on March 2.

Nagpur will host the second match on March 5, while Ranchi and Mohali will host the third and fourth games on March 8 and March 10, respectively. The final match will be played at the Ferozeshah Kotla in Delhi on March 13.
