India vs Australia 2nd Test Perth: After bundling out Australia for 326 on a lively Perth track, the onus was once again on India openers – Murali Vijay and KL Rahul to provide the visitors a solid start on day 2 of the second Test. But, the Indian opening duo once again failed to live up to the expectations as they got dismissed inside first 5 overs to leave the tourists reeling at 8/2. Mitchell Starc picked up the wicket of Vijay for nought at the stroke of lunch, whereas Josh Hazlewood got the better of Rahul (2) as India were put under immense pressure. With another failure at the top, Vijay and Rahul have got their name around another dubious record as they registered the lowest average for Indian openers in a calendar year in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) in minimum 15 innings.

Talking about their dismissals, Vijay was bowled by Starc by a big booming inswinger which he completely failed to avoid. While Rahul was in two minds about how to play a full delivery aimed at the off-stump and was beaten all ends up as the ball destroyed his stumps. It brought Kohli and Pujara together at the crease, and the duo concentrated on defence in order to push back the Australian attack.

Skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara put on 62 runs for the third wicket after losing both the openers, steering India to 70 /2 at Tea on day two of the second Test against Australia. At the break, Kohli was batting on 37 while Cheteshwar Pujara was unbeaten on 23 as India trail by 256 runs.
